Chili Cook-Off a Huge Success!!
On January 6, 2024 the very first Chili Cook-Off was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Dauphin. It was a joint effort by Girl Scout Troop 10970 and the Dauphin-Middle Paxton Historical Society. There were 20 "Celebrity" Chili Cookers invited who each made their own unique versions. They were all so different! They were then judged by the tasters who paid $5 for a tasting kit, tasted the chili, then voted the best one for six different prizes. The categories were: Hottest/Spiciest, Best Costume, Best Overall Taste, Most Unique, Best Name of Chili, and Best Presentation. There were over 200 attendees at the event on a very snowy day! The Girl Scouts held a bake sale and made over $570!! There was a 50/50 raffle, a Historical Society Gift Shop table, a bread & butter table...just so much going on! The proceeds from the Chili Cook-off went to the Historical Society. This event was so successful, there is talk of another next year! It was good to see the community come out and support these programs! Thank you to everyone behind the scenes for helping to make this day a huge success!!
