Eagle Scout Holds Ceremony to Dedicate Veteran's Memorial in Dauphin Square (Intersection of Allegheny and Market Streets in Dauphin)
On Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 at noon, a stone monument was delivered to the square of Dauphin in preparation for the Dedication Ceremony of the Veteran’s Memorial. As part of his Eagle Scout Award, Trevor Drawbaugh worked tirelessly for nearly a year to raise the funds to erect the monument and build the brick way. Engraved bricks were sold in memory/honor of those who have served in all branches of the military and were placed at the memorial in the Dauphin square on May 2nd, 2015. When that last brick was in place, Trevor’s Eagle Scout Project was complete. His project was to give the Veterans of Dauphin-Middle Paxton a Memorial on behalf of the Dauphin Middle-Paxton Historical Society. Following the ceremony, the reins were turned over to the historical society who took over the brick orders and maintenance of the memorial. The Dedication Ceremony was not part of Trevor’s Eagle Project, but he felt it needed to be done. The Dedication Ceremony took place at the square in Dauphin on Saturday, May 16th, 2015 at 2pm, Armed Forces Day. There was a huge turnout for this event.
NOTE: Trevor has made a commitment to the Marines and reported to basic training at Parris Island on October 5th.
