About Dauphin-Middle Paxton Historical Society

The Dauphin-Middle Paxton Historical Society is a non-profit organization with an all volunteer staff and committees, founded in 1996 by a group of individuals from the community.  The society's purpose is to collect, preserve, utilize, publish and interpret the history of this borough and township for the benefit of the public, and to offer public programs and services related to aspects of the same.  The society has monthly meetings and a monthly program, which the public is welcome to attend.

The society is no longer housed in the Old Dauphin School House due to the fire, but it continues to be the society's logo.  The school house was used for students from 1876 to 1969.  In the beginning, the school housed twelve grades, while it housed only four by the time of its closing.  The society's logo has been designed by local artist Mary Hockendoner.
